“It makes you look like you've been on an island in Italy for weeks,” the photographer says of her complexion’s secret weapon.
Alexandra Nataf Swears by This Drugstore Staple for a Just-Back-From-Vacation Glow
In the head-spinning age of multi-step skin-care routines and mic-drop makeup launches, The One is a space for minimalists to sound off on the single beauty product that’s found a longtime spot in their carefully curated routines.
It may come as a surprise to Alexandra Nataf’s 36,000 Instagram followers that the Paris-born, Los Angeles-raised photographer and Unconditional creative director refers to herself as a “beauty junkie.” After all, Nataf, whose classic and clean touch can be seen in campaigns for the likes of Mango and Matteau, is herself known for a near-perfect complexion that shows nary a trace of makeup. “When you see me it looks like I’m not wearing anything,” Nataf says, acknowledging that her approach to cosmetics (like that of many of the Frenchwomen in her family) prioritizes skin-saving serums, treatments, and masks over any shape-shifting eyeliner or lipstick bullet. Still, the product enthusiast does embrace the occasional color cosmetic, albeit discrete.
Enter W3ll People’s Nudist Multi-Use Stick, which, Nataf notes, has become an essential part of her above-the-neck routine since she picked it up on a whim at Duane Reade last summer. “It’s super, super, super easy to use,” she says. To wit: every morning, after applying a layer of Strivectin’s retinol-powered moisturizer, she blends the creamy blush—“a bit messily,” she adds—onto her cheeks with just her fingers; throughout the day she’ll then reach for the teeny tube, which she stashes in her pocket, whenever she’s in need of a rose-tinted pick-me-up. (Yes, no mirror necessary.) And why not? Even in the depths of New York winter, she explains, “it makes you look like you’ve been on an island in Italy for weeks.” Presto chango!
