Andra Day has been turning heads throughout the 2021 awards season, and her ensemble at tonight’s 93rd Academy Awards cemented her status as a red carpet star (with the shimmer to match). The Best Actress nominee’s golden Vera Wang gown had her looking like an Oscars statuette, while its up-to-there slit made for a show-stopping leg reveal.
Day’s makeup reflected her dress with rose gold-lined eyes made possible by Chanel’s Longwear Liquid Eyeshadow in Rayon and Les 4 Ombres in Codes Élégants and Warm Memories. “Today has been a supreme dream realized for Andra and I,” makeup artist Porsche Cooper, who has accompanied Day on this year’s red carpet journey, wrote on Instagram.
The terra cotta theme continued with a lip look that was defined by Rouge Coco Bloom lipstick in Dream, finished off by a Rouge Coco Gloss in #774 Excitation. (All fitting names for the night.)
Day’s cloud of curls was executed by hairstylist Tony Medina, who brought the regal updo together using a Shwarzkopf hydrator to nourish the coils, followed by the OSiS Elastic Spray to str etch the hair, and the Magic Anti Frizz Serum to keep the look intact all night long.
For her role as the titular character in The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Day underwent a full beauty transformation. The red carpets of this year have found her looking more like herself—easily glamorous and exuding star power.
