Anne Hathaway Debuts Side-Swept French Girl Bangs

The actor revealed her new asymmetrical fringe cut while promoting her new HBO Max movie, “Locked Down,” in a stunning backyard Instagram shoot.

Throughout her career, Anne Hathaway has whipped through a number of different hairstyles with ease and aplomb. There was her radical choppy pixie. Those sleek, bombshell lengths. That soft cascade of shoulder-skimming layers. And now? It's all about her new set of long, side-swept bangs. The Oscar-winning actor debuted her new asymmetrical fringe while promoting her new HBO Max movie, Locked Down (out today) in a stunning backyard shoot shared on Instagram. To further elevate Hathaway's look while she wore a trio of glamorous metallic gowns by Versace, Azzaro, and Vivienne Westwood, hairstylist Mara Roszak crafted her lengths into a striking ponytail that showcased her statement fringe.

Anne Hathaway; Françoise Hardy

If for Francophiles, Hathaway's new fringe calls to mind French hair icons such as Françoise Hardy, it's no coincidence. "These bangs do have a bit of a 60's and 70’s Frenchy feel to me," explains Roszak, who sought to play up their shape—angled just above the brow and softly blended longer towards the eye—by blowdrying her hair smooth with a medium-sided boar bristle round brush and setting them with a lightweight hairspray.
