Given “The Queen's Gambit” star’s propensity for taking beauty risks, it was no surprise to see her debut a new look for tonight’s Golden Globes ceremony.
Anya Taylor-Joy Channels Veronica Lake at the 2021 Golden Globes
From Emma to The Queen's Gambit, Anya Taylor-Joy has undergone many a beauty transformation for the screen. Given her propensity for above-the-neck risks, it was no surprise to see the 24-year-old actress debut a new look for tonight's Golden Globes ceremony, where she picked up the award for Best Actress (Limited Series).
Decked in a deep green Christian Dior couture gown, Taylor-Joy sported icy platinum waves that were dramatically longer, spilling to her waist with a deep side parting that caused her lengths to fall over her left eye to dramatic effect. Pairing her swoopy pale waves with a bold red lip, Taylor-Joy incidentally channeled Veronica Lake, the Old Hollywood star who famously made the one-eye style a sensation in her breakout role in the 1940 film I Wanted Wings.
Needless to say, Taylor-Joy's embrace of extra-long hair comes at a serendipitous time. Whether the product of months of skipped haircuts, or the handiwork of temporary hair extensions, the final product is stunning and makes a winsome case for growing out your hair while social distancing.
