The DJ, sexual wellness advocate and skin-care brand founder walks us through her nighttime routine.
Before Bed: Mayumi Skin Founder Kat Matutina Winds Down With TikToks and Electrolyte Water
It wouldn't be hyperbolic to say that Kat Matutina does it all: she's a marketing executive who helps natural skincare brands reach their sales goals, a sexual wellness advocate, and a DJ who just so happens to have a budding holistic brand of her own.
Those who know Matutina well would say that her own skincare line was bound to happen. “I've worked in natural wellness and beauty since 2003,” she tells Vogue. “I learned a lot about active ingredients as well as toxic and useless fillers after years of research, visiting organic farms, touring labs, and referencing the EWG Skin Deep database. It's the knowledge I gained that ultimately inspired me to create my own formulations.”
Grounded in science and a holistic approach to wellness, Mayumi Skin features a selective assortment of organic, plant-based face and body oils, including a regenerative botanical blend that features meadowfoam sea oil, helichrysum, and geranium; mists; and a creamy antioxidant body butter.
What started off as a passion project that saw Matutina making custom blends as birthday gifts for friends has quickly turned into a skincare line of products crafted with functionality and intention at its center. As for what's next, Matutina is currently in the process of developing a line of candles to complete the sensory offerings available from the brand.
