The model took to Instagram this morning to show off a newly brunette shag.
Cara Delevingne Makes the Case for Going From Blonde to Brunette
For those who began eschewing salon coloring sessions out of necessity (read: quarantine) and have since discovered a preference toward a slightly simplified look, good company abounds. This morning, Cara Delevingne stopped Instagrammers mid-scroll with a fresh shag colored an unassuming light brown, the look executed by Mara Roszak, with color by Jamie Levin.
“Cara has such great natural texture in her hair, and I knew a long soft shag would be perfect to enhance that texture," says Roszak. "I was inspired by this late ’70s early ’80s Fast Times skater babe, that feels so Cara. It’s got a real rocker/ skater vibe while maintaining a natural softness.”
It seems that Delevingne heard the word that “mousy” may be the new blonde—as evidenced by Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber before her. Delevingne's new hue does evoke a distinctively toned-down cool, an insouciance made bolder by the style's layered texture. A pleasing juxtaposition came via a rainbowed liner look applied by makeup artist Molly R. Stern, the colorful addition matched to Adina's Jewels Rainbow Tennis Choker. The takeaway? The best beauty looks are built from a focus on idiosyncrasy. Let your personality be your guide.
