“My beauty routine is really a wellness routine disguised as a beauty routine,” a glowing Elle Macpherson says with a laugh. “I truly believe that when you’re well within it shows on your skin.” Which is why the very first product the 57-year-old Australian supermodel reaches for every morning is not a cleanser or three-figure cream, but rather a gut-supporting supplement that helps keep toxins out of the body—and off the face. Such an inside-out approach, however, is relatively new for the WelleCo founder: “When I turned 50 I started to notice so many changes in my body: I was sugar-addicted, sleep-deprived, adrenally-stressed… and it showed… [so] I changed my lifestyle,” she recalls, before detailing the healthy habits—from ingestible complexion elixirs to circulation-boosting lymphatic drainage massages—that she now combines with a handful of supercharged Dr. Barbara Sturm cosmetics.

To amplify her natural radiance, she then turns to a small stable of makeup products—but makes sure not to overdo it: “I love seeing people’s uniqueness, that we don’t all have to look the same,” she muses. “We can have makeup that highlights our beautiful qualities that we have.” In Macpherson’s case, that philosophy translates to an extra-dewy finish courtesy of Beautycounter’s tinted moisturizer, a swipe of Westman Atelier’s light-reflecting luminizer and bronzer, and an eye-opening combination of a pale MAC brow pencil and Chanel liner, which she softly scrawls under her lash line, before reaching for what she refers to as the pièce de résistance of her routine: Lucas’s clear Papaw Ointment.
