Gigi Hadid Welcomes Winter With a New Haircut

Gigi Hadid took to Instagram to debut a newly-snipped set of bangs.

2020 has been—among many, many other things—the year of the at-home makeover. And while in the past (and even toward the top of the pandemic) beauty experts were largely recommending against combatting the anxiety and boredom with an impulse hair moment, it seems that as the months have marched on, a self-sanctioned snip or dye job has become today's message in a bottle—a move primed for social-media sharing that insists, yes, time is still passing and change is still possible

Just ask Gigi Hadid. On Wednesday evening, to accompany some freshly fallen snow, Hadid opted to indulge in a set of bohemian bangs, a slightly insouciant take on a new-mom hair look. Framing a palette of warming makeup, the fringe—executed (in some fashion) by hairstylist Alejandra Hernandez—punctuated a twisted topknot, making for a chic addition to a pared-down updo. The model welcomed her first daughter with partner Zayn Malik in late September, and her sweetly-captured pregnancy served as a beacon of beauty and wellness all its own. So, for others, the “2020 aesthetic” may have translated to extreme chops and colored hair, Rapenzelian lengths and hyper-tended complexions, but Hadid's transformations—from life-changing to mane-changing—are characteristically grounded.
