Over the past decade, Tata Harper’s eponymous beauty line has captured cult status—a rare achievement for a 100% natural, nontoxic label. The Barranquilla-born founder celebrates her 46th birthday this week, and is celebrating in part by offering Vogue exclusive first access to a sitewide sale, featuring 25% off of purchases over $100 with code VOGUExTATA. “I believe that our products have opened the eyes of so many people,” says Harper of creating safe formulations with a moral compass. “Whether it’s our ingredients or our packaging, we work with vendors that are committed to fair trade, protecting workers, supporting local communities, sustainability, and environmentally responsible practices,” she shares.

One of the first to define the “farm-to-face” clean beauty category, Harper embraces growth that comes naturally. “Since we launched, all of our celebrity endorsements have been organic,” she says. There’s Tracee Ellis Ross (loves the Be True lip treatment), Gigi Hadid (created a “New Mom Self-Care Routine” from the Nourishing Oil Cleanser, Hydrating Floral Essence, and Revitalizing Body Oil), and Hailey Bieber (starts every morning with the Hydrating Floral Mask), all of whom have shared their favorites via social media and beyond. “They tried our products and fell in love with them,” says Harper, who takes her non-celeb customer feedback just as seriously. “We always take their suggestions into consideration when working on new product formulations and launches.” Last April, the brand listened to consumers and launched its first refillable product, a Water Lock Moisturizer. Harper plans to extend this range: “While sustainability is a moving target, I feel like the future of sustainability for us is to end single use products,” she says.

For now, products are in “infinitely recyclable” glass, and ingredients are upcycled when possible. The Superkind Softening Cleanser and Fortifying Moisturizer feature maracuja seed oil created by distilling Peruvian passion fruit seeds from the local food industry. “The seeds have been historically discarded until now,” Harper shares. It’s another feather in her botanical-fairy-godmother cap. “Our products offer a sensorial experience—you’re smelling nature,” says Harper. “It’s like a bouquet of flowers. It just puts you in a good mood.”
