Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber are here to remind you that The Matrix: Resurrections is at long last in theaters. Both models both channeled Neo when stepping out on Tuesday night, which saw them celebrate their close friend Fai Khadra’s eyewear collab with Oliver Peoples at a dinner atop a helipad in Los Angeles. Bieber was particularly committed to the vibe: The 25-year-old covered up in head-to-toe black leather, wearing a Magda Butrym coat that nearly stretched down to her Saint Laurent heels. She stuck with the material underneath, pairing pants by The Attico with a vintage ruched top that dates back to Tom Ford’s Gucci era. As for her nighttime sunglasses, they were naturally by Fai Khadra x Oliver Peoples.

Typically, it’s Bieber who’s sporting the shortest of hemlines; she’s even been known to forgo pants everywhere from the office to the streets of New York City. On Tuesday, though, Jenner picked up the mantle by going with a black leather miniskirt that barely skimmed her thighs. (Dua Lipa would no doubt approve.) The material carried over to her bag and knee-high boots, though Jenner changed things up on top with a camel sweater vest that we don’t expect to be seeing Neo in anytime soon. Short as her skirt may have been, it was undoubtedly less of a statement look than her recent controversial choice of cutout dress.

If you want to join the Kendall and Hailey gang, you better start looking around for some black leather. Haze, Khadra’s sister and one half of the DJ duo Simi & Haze, went with a similar look, as did the musician Steve Lacy.

Dua Lipa Takes a Style Note from Kendall Jenner in Cutout Black Dress

Dua Lipa may have ended last year with shrinking hemlines, but she’s starting 2022 off in a full-length dress, though, to be clear, there’s nothing conservative about the singer’s latest look. This is Dua Lipa we’re talking about. On Thursday, Lipa shared a set of images on Instagram, showing off a black cutout dress from Christopher Esber RE22, and revealing the unlikely occasion where she wore it.

In the carousel of images, Lipa posed in the ensemble, which features oval cutouts on top of the breasts and down the stomach. The skin baring seems to continue around the dress, where there is another cutout on her lower back. The piece, as a whole, is actually fairly reminiscent of the Mônot dress Kendall Jenner wore to her friend’s wedding back in November. Lipa’s is slightly less revealing than Kendall’s, which is fitting considering where she wore the look.

“Not so baby brothers bday dinner,” she captioned her post, which also showed off the martini she sipped at the festivities, as well as the silver Balenciaga Hourglass bag she carried. While the dress does feature an immense amount of cutouts, it is considerably less revealing than looks we have seen her in previously, a good choice when passing the attention off to your little brother for the night.

The saga of Kendall Jenner’s controversial wedding guest dress continues. Finally, months after the model wore a very revealing gown to her best friend’s Miami wedding—a piece that everyone seemed to have an opinion on—she (and the bride) is finally speaking out.

Ahead of the new year, Lauren Perez, the bride in question, took to Instagram to share some photos from “the greatest night of 2021,” her wedding. In the pictures, we see Perez and her new husband, along with some of her A-list bridesmaids, including Jenner and Bella Hadid. In the photos from the reception, Jenner is wearing a cutout black dress from Mônot’s spring/summer 2022 collection. When Jenner first shared photos of the dress on her Instagram Story the night of the wedding back in November, it caused quite a stir, with many people saying the dress wasn’t appropriate for a wedding and was disrespectful to the bride. Jenner stayed quiet on the subject, as she usual does—that is until last week.

Under Perez’s Instagram, one person commented that they were “embarrassed” for Kendall, calling the dress “inappropriate” for a wedding. At that point, Perez stepped in to defend her friend. “She looked stunning and I loved it,” the newlywed commented. Jenner then entered the conversation in order to clarify the situation. “Obvi I asked for your approval in advance too,” she wrote, adding “we love a beach wedding,” effectively ending the conversation. What the bride says, goes, and the bride said yes to Jenner’s dress.

Jenner is hardly the only one wearing revealing gowns these days, albeit she is only in wearing such a piece to a wedding. Megan Thee Stallion wore a dress from the same Mônot collection to the Glamour Women of the Year Awards last year and just last week, Dua Lipa opted for a similar look for her brother’s birthday party. Whether you like it or not, extreme cutout are in, are they’re bound to continue to cause a stir.
