The supermodel's Met Gala beauty look was a nod to Audrey Hepburn in "My Fair Lady."
Kendall Jenner Offered a Modern Take on Audrey Hepburn at the Met Gala
One glamorous ball begets another. For this evening's Met Gala, Kendall Jenner's custom Givenchy offered a gorgeous homage to one of Audrey Hepburn's most iconic roles, that of vintage makeover case Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. Naturally, makeup artist Mary Phillips followed suit, looking to the iconic actress for further inspiration. “We wanted to show classic aspects of Audrey but in a more contemporary fashion,” said Phillips. "Once we knew the dress Kendall would be wearing, as a team, we collectively decided to take bits and pieces of Audrey's glam from iconic images over her career."
The research resulted in a moment striking in its simplicity. With a basis of flawless skin—smoothing and hydration offered via Kylie Skin Face Moisturizer and Eye Cream—Phillips pulled a thick wing of black liner along Jenner's lids, a diminutive wing beneath the lower lashline providing a kittenish complement. “Kendall naturally has very captivating eyes thus this was the perfect way to showcase them,” says Phillips, who applied a touch of white eye shadow between the two liners to make them pop. A roseate lip completed the ode, while a slicked, center-parted midi-knot struck the perfect balance between Jenner and Hepburn.
