Photographer Joséphine Löchen Keeps This Danish Face Mist in Her Bag at All Times

As Copenhagen Fashion Week kicks off, photographer Joséphine Löchen lets Vogue in on the Danish face mist she won’t leave home without.

In the head-spinning age of multi-step skin-care routines and mic-drop makeup launches, The One is a space for minimalists to sound off on the single beauty product that’s found a longtime spot in their carefully curated routines.

When the photographer Joséphine Löchen traded her native Paris for Copenhagen five years ago, where she lives with her Danish husband and two-year-old daughter, she never expected to see evidence of the move on her face. “Paris is very polluted and I remember my skin was more gray and greasy,” says Löchen, who once began every morning by reaching for a tube of foundation. These days, pore-perfecting makeup has been rendered unnecessary—plus, she notes, “a lot of girls [in Copenhagen] are super natural.” But Löchen, whose intimate imagery has been sought out by the likes of Ganni and Cecilie Bahnsen, nevertheless believes in tending to her complexion, now more than ever.

“After I had my baby and I started to have shorter nights, I realized that I should take better care of my skin,” recalls the 32-year-old, who is loyal to a handful of hydrating hero products. She slathers Everyday Oil on from head to toe (and pours a capful into her baby’s bath), picks up a La Rosée moisturizer from the pharmacy when she returns to France, and is always within arm’s reach of a face mist from the Danish brand Karmameju, which she first discovered while shooting a Saks Potts campaign four years ago. “Barbara [Potts] sprayed it on my face and I loved the smell,” says Löchen, who instantly became hooked on the rose, hyaluronic acid, and aloe vera-infused formula. “I use it all the time—whether I’m on set or traveling—and my skin is completely regenerated,” she shares. Simply put, “It’s the best feeling.”
