It's not often that Selena Gomez strays from her signature brunette. But when she does, it's proof positive there's no hair color the singer, actress, and Rare Beauty founder can't pull off. Her latest dramatic shade? Platinum blonde—just in time for the warmer months.
While marking the turn of season, Gomez's new bright bleached 'do also gives impetus for a makeup bag overhaul. "New look," she wrote in the caption of her Instagram reveal on the Rare Beauty page, which found her icy lengths styled into a tumble of rumpled waves worn with a frosty pink lip and a pastel manicure. "Need to pick new Rare Beauty lip and blush shades now."
It's not the first time Gomez has gone blonde, but it's a new expertly tweaked platinum shade; one with a fresh and ultra-flattering marriage of bright silver and golden tones. "She typically keeps it pretty natural, but this time she went for a big change," explain Nine Zero One salon co-founders Riawna Capri and Nikki Lee, who've been tending to the triple-threat performer's hair for over a decade. "This blonde is unique to her as we had to make sure there was an equal balance of cool and warm for her skin tone. It’s an edgier look and perfect for summer." Blondlena, as her fans affectionately refer to her whenever she takes the peroxide plunge, is back and better than ever.
