SVNR Shop’s Christina Tung on the Earth-Friendly SPF Serum She Wears Every Day

Designer-publicist Christina Tung shares the SPF serum that has won its way into her minimal beauty routine.

In the head-spinning age of multistep skin-care routines and mic-drop makeup launches, The One is a space for minimalists to sound off on the single beauty product that’s found a longtime spot in their carefully curated routines.

Designer Christina Tung’s brand, SVNR Shop, is defined by sunrise-hued silk dresses and asymmetrical jewels that look like they were strung together with shells from the beach. The pieces make wearers feel like they’re on vacation 24/7—a much welcomed feeling these days, when travels are few and far between. “My favorite thing about SVNR is having a creative outlet that is relatively gentle on the earth's resources,” Tung tells Vogue. “I love creating something new, playing with shape, color and texture, Seeing people wearing and loving their pieces is such a joy.” Her values of sustainability and diversity carry over into the fashion public relations firm she started, House Of, with a roster of clients who all incorporate sustainability and mindfulness into their brands.

Tung’s beauty philosophy is “you're most beautiful when you feel your best,” and for her that means keeping her beauty and wellness routine to a minimum. “I don't wear a lot of makeup or use a ton of products,” she says of her routine that includes a lash serum, a cleanser, and an oil. If there's one thing the entrepreneur can't live without, it’s her sunscreen, which is currently Everyday Humans’ Resting Beach Face SPF30 Sunscreen Serum. “It feels so good on my face and makes me actually want to wear sunscreen,” Tung says of the formula that's filled with hyaluronic acid, spinach, and green tea for added hydration. “It leaves my skin all glowy, not sticky, and doesn't leave that white- purple cast that so many sunscreens usually do on my skin. It's also packed with antioxidants and nutrients and is earth-friendly and protects against UV and pollution. It. Is. Magical,” Tung raves.

And while she makes a point to protect her skin from the harsh rays of the sun with her daily SPF application, she considers the practice of breathwork her biggest beauty secret. “I've made a practice of breathing exercises as a vital part of not only my wellness routine but a part of my emotional wellbeing,” she says. “During this COVID period, where breathing has been so fraught, so difficult and so dangerous for so many, it's important to remember that sometimes the simplest thing can be the most cherished. Maintaining that vital life force, our chi, our energy, is enabled by the oxygenation of our blood that comes from conscious breathing.”
