The Best Beauty Instagrams of the Week: Jessica Wu, Laverne Cox, and More

This past week on Instagram was filled with “sun-drenched” selfies, aspirational manicures, and uplifting reminders.

Soaking up as much sun as possible was on the agenda this past week on Instagram. Jessica Wu, press director of Peter Do and founder of period empowerment organization Period Space, shared a “sun-drenched” selfie that highlighted her peachy lips and cheeks, as well as a ray-catching highlight. Ciara caught some good light as well, showing off a stunning set of floor-length faux locs on the beach in a snap captured by her husband Russell Wilson. Then, model Karen Williams shared a selfie sporting a natural glow and warm gaze while sharing an honest, all-important message about ending violence against women.

While debuting a new silver 'do, Jorja Smith unveiled a matching sparkly metallic manicure, while Parker Kit Hill rocked winged liner and an iridescent manicure of her own by nail artist Mei Kawajiri. “It's all about the details these days,” she wrote in the caption. Also embracing a cat eye was Ashley Graham, who paired her's with a wash of light pink shadow, and Nazanin Mandi, who complemented her soft smoky iteration with rosy cheeks and lashes while posing in front of a wind machine.

Providing some much needed comic relief, Lupita Nyong'o glowed in a candid video dedicated to finding end-of-week motivation. Then, with individual braids, Steve Lacy reflected on how being guarded has done more harm than good in his life. “Let's be more vulnerable party people,” he wrote in his caption. Finally, the ever-inspiring Laverne Cox shared an uplifting video on International Transgender Day of Visibility. “I believe that trans is beautiful,” she wrote. “I know that we are special… It's hard to think of it like that sometimes when there's so much discrimination and so much injustice towards trans people. But we have a light. And we must never dim that light for anyone or anything.”
