This Sustainably-Made Oil is the Secret to Alexandra Agoston’s Otherworldly Glow

Australian supermodel Alexandra Agoston on the single face product she swears by for a makeup-free complexion.

In the head-spinning age of multistep skin-care routines and mic-drop makeup launches, The One is a space for minimalists to sound off on a single beauty product that has found a longtime spot in their carefully curated routines.

Though the supermodel and Jean-Paul Gaultier muse Alexandra Agoston has become well-accustomed to wearing layers of transformative makeup during her years spent on runways and sets, while at home in New York she prefers a more stripped-back approach to her complexion: “When I’m not working, I try to keep my skin [routine] as minimal as possible,” she tells Vogue from her SoHo loft. So minimal, in fact, that she often reaches for only a single product: Costa Brazil’s Kaya Face Oil.

“I was immediately hooked,” the Parley for the Oceans ambassador says of the lightweight formula, which contains sustainably-sourced ingredients such as kaya, cacay, and breu from the Amazon rainforest. “Some oils are really heavy and make your skin really shiny, but this is almost like a matte oil; it doesn’t have that slimy feeling,” she adds, noting that it can even help remove stubborn eyeliner or mascara. Day-to-day, however, Agoston—who also credits her otherworldly complexion to a high water intake and weekly sweat sessions with Flatiron Pilates’s Amy Nelms—skips makeup entirely and presses just a few drops of the potent elixir into her skin post-shower. “The reason I like it,”  she continues, “is that it’s perfect on its own.”
