Very Important: What Vice President Kamala Harris' Husband Doug Emhoff Wore at the Inauguration Ceremony

Yes, *who* is he wearing???

My fellow Americans, the inauguration of the 46th president of the United States Joe Biden is finally here. And as we watch the ceremony from our couches with renewed hope (after much division in the last four years) and take note of all the historic moments happening in D.C. right now, we can't help but wonder (now cue Carrie Bradshaw's voice): What is the first female, Black, and South Asian Vice President Kamala Harris' husband, Doug Emhoff, wearing?

Yes, now that we have a Second Gentleman of the United States in the White House (one of the many firsts of this new presidential administration), we love that we get to break down the lewks of the new VP's marital partner.

Alongside Madam Vice President Kamala Harris (wow, love the sound of that), Emhoff attended the inauguration wearing American designer Ralph Lauren. (President Joe Biden also wore a suit from the label.) Doug's mostly all black, monochromatic look featured a knee-grazing, double-breasted coat over a matching suit with a white dress shirt underneath for just that perfect pop of non-black—a classic and trés chic choice. Midnight-hued leather dress shoes and a pair of must-have leather gloves tied the whole look together. But perhaps the most notable accessory on the second gentleman today was his protective face mask—also worn in a dark colorway.

The intersection of fashion and politics is actually more prevalent than you may think. For instance, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, and VP Kamala Harris all wore purple today—and the meaning behind that is actually deeply symbolic of unifying our nation's bipartisanship. And wow, we do love a fashion statement.
