4 Uncomplicated Style Tweaks That Will Take 10 Years Off Your Look

If you're looking for easy style tips that will make you look younger, check out these expert fashion tricks to take years off your look.

I believe we’re all on the same page with the notion that age is literally just a number. And that number (whether it’s higher or lower) has nothing to do with what you should or shouldn’t wear. And while we’d never want to project aging in a negative way (it’s literally life), some of us can’t help but be intrigued by those style habits that could, in theory, take a few years off our looks.

Diving into this subject matter further required some expert intel. To that, we tapped celebrity stylist Emily Sanchez, who works with A-listers of a range of ages to share the sartorial tweaks that could potentially make you look younger (you know, if that’s what you’re going for). Keep scrolling for tips and to shop wardrobe staples that work for anyone at any age. Because remember, age is just a number.

1. Switch up your textiles.

“One mistake I see people make is going for textiles that aren’t so fresh. So when you’re choosing a pattern or a color, try one that’s more of the moment—something a little bit brighter, for example, that feels current.” —Emily Sanchez

“Catering your outfit to your best feature will always elevate your look because you’ll feel more confident. Meaning if you love your legs, go for a pencil skirt or a midi skirt—a silhouette that really reflects your best attribute.” —Sanchez

“Always pay attention to your footwear choice. A boot with a chunky heel, for example, is great for everybody. It’s a fail-safe shoe. That said, it’s always better to be more minimal with your boots because the boots shouldn’t be the look. The look should be the look. The boots should essentially be serving the look. I do like a little hardware though—just nothing crazy. You don’t want it to seem like you’re trying too hard where it looks like you’re putting in a lot of effort.” —Sanchez

Shop stylish ankle boots:
Hunter Boots Refined Chelsea Stitch Detail Wellington Boots ($175)
H&M Leather Ankle Boots ($99)
Mango Heel Leather Ankle Boot ($120)
Schutz Maryana Tall Boots ($238)
Miista Marcelle Boots ( $435) $304.5
