5 Glamour Editors Try the Insta-Famous Always Pan

Sure, it makes for grid-worthy photos, but is it more than just a pretty face?

Sure, the Insta-famous Always Pan makes for grid-worthy photos, but is it more than just a pretty face? Let Glamour's Our Place Always Pan review help you decide.

If you're a millennial who follows food influencers or HGTV on Instagram (or if you've spoken the words always and pan in tandem out loud), you've probably been served #sponcon for the Always Pan—and you've probably been tempted to buy one. Unless you have the unicorn kitchen cabinets that can accommodate every pot, pan, lid, insert, and add-on, taking out a one pan probably involves removing and rearranging a small mountain of cookware. So replacing it all with a single pan that can handle braising, searing, steaming, straining, sautéing, frying, and boiling (and be used to serve and store) probably sounds like a dream.

To confirm that the Always Pan can do things besides posing in nicely styled photos, we went ahead and put it to test. In short, even if you don't need a cookware upgrade, learning that there's a better way to perform tasks like steaming vegetables is like driving a car with new windshield wipers: The old way worked fine, but the new way is smarter and easier.

Boiling pasta, making scrambled eggs, steaming veggies—the Always Pan truly lives up to its do-it-all nature. It’s a godsend-slash-workhorse for small kitchen spaces (hello, Manhattan apartments), and not a single day goes by that I don’t put it to use. It’s wide and deep enough to fit several ingredients at a time, and the fact that you can prepare a full meal without needing to dirty multiple pans is a blessing from the cooking gods. The nonstick surface is also incredibly easy to clean if you hate being on dish duty. Final words to anyone still on the fence? Come over to the Always side. We have ~everything~. —Talia Abbas, associate commerce editor

Aside from being extremely good-looking, this pan does the work. I'm often making grilled cheese sandwiches for my toddler (and for myself), and the majority of my cookware takes forever and a day to heat up properly. The Always Pan got nice and hot quickly, and the American cheese melted perfectly and evenly, and the grainy bread toasted like a just-crunchy-enough dream. The sandwich also, I might add, stayed insanely warm from first to last bite. Extra points for the nonstick coating which only needs a swipe of a damp cloth or sponge to clean. —Perrie Samotin, digital director

I use a frying pan almost daily, whether to make fried rice or omelets, or to sauté veggies. The problem is that every other version I own is so shallow that either oil, food, or a fun combo of both inevitably end up on my stove. Not so with the Always Pan, which is the perfect depth for searing, sautéing, and frying without the mess. I love that it feels solid yet still lightweight, and in the Blue Salt shade, it's pretty enough to display. And the built-in spoon rest was a revelation. —Deanna Pai, acting commerce editor

Even in a neutral shade like black, the Our Place pan sits on my stove with pride. It’s not just a looker, though: The nonstick coating works like a sleek dream for cooking and cleaning, and the high sides make it perfect for shallow-frying without splatters. —Emma Wartzman, commerce producer

I've steamed vegetables in a stainless-steel steamer insert resting on a saucepan since getting both as wedding gifts. The setup works well enough when I'm cooking for two, but to steam broccoli for a dinner party, it's hard to cook everything evenly as I'm shuffling spears (and letting steam escape) to prevent the broccoli on the bottom from overcooking while the pieces on the top are rock-hard. Enter the Always Pan, with its wide, shallow steamer basket, which let me cook enough broccoli for my family of four in a single layer with room to spare, no shuffling (or steam burns) required. Plus, the Always Pan and steamer basket weigh less than my stainless-steel setup, so it's less cumbersome to move on and off the stove—which, when I'm using the Always Pan, I can do without a pot holder, thanks to the stay-cool handle. —Kim Fusaro, director of brand marketing
