Bachelor Matt James Reacts to Victoria’s Dramatic Exit
Very little has been more frustrating for Bachelor Nation than watching suitor Matt James continue to keep this year’s clear villain, Victoria Larson, around to bully other women and start drama week after week. Finally, after much of the damage was done (Marylynn deserved so much better), the self-titled queen was forced to hand over her crown.
“It was an easy [decision],” James told People TV of his choice to send Larson home. “When that information was made available to me about what was going on in the house, that type of name-calling and just blatant lies and rumors is unacceptable.”
Things came to a head during the latest episode of The Bachelor, which aired on February 1, after fan favorite Katie Thurston came to James with her concerns over rampant drama at the Nemacolin Resort. Contestants Anna Redman and Larson were ultimately both eliminated for spreading rumors that newcomer Brittany Galvin was a sex worker.
But Larson didn’t go quietly. “I honestly feel so sorry for you, that you would listen to hearsay and not all of the facts behind a situation, so goodbye,” she said to James before storming out.
“I had no words,” James said to People. “What do you say to that?”
Ultimately Matt James feels it’s his responsibility to protect the women fighting for his love. “I would have never imagined I was going to be dealing with things like I did last night with grown women,” he said. “But whatever you have to do to make sure that these women are comfortable and you can get the best out of them and they can get the best out of me.”
While Larson is out for good (hopefully), audiences will have to wait until next week to find out the fate of a third “antagonist,” as James described MJ Snyder in the episode’s final moments.
