Beyoncé’s Epic Holiday Look is Pure Romance
Celebrities live for holidays, especially on social media. Each time one rolls around, stars come out of the woodwork to update their Instagrams and TikToks with on-theme outfits. 2021’s Valentine celebrations yielded plenty of sartorial creativity, especially amongst music’s biggest names. Dua Lipa kissed boyfriend, Anwar Hadid, in crimson Vuitton, Katy Perry brought out Viktor & Rolf haute couture hearts, and Lizzo turned heads in custom faux fur lingerie by her stylist Marko Monroe. The looks varied, but everyone sought to honor the occasion’s spirit, and no one accomplished that goal that better than Beyoncé. After weeks of teasing her latest Ivy Park drop, Beyoncé filled her feeds with glimpses of how she and her family spent the most romantic night of the year. By sharing snapshots of rose petals, champagne, and heartwarming artwork from her children, she gave a glimpse into her private life and an appropriately glamorous new outfit.
Dressed in a scarlet pleated mini skirt and white blouse from Alessandra Rich’s Fall 2020 collection, Beyoncé added a dose of sex appeal to Rich’s creation. The whimsical styling of the collection’s lookbook—there, the skirt and top were paired with a dainty cardigan featuring floral appliqué and pearl buttons—received an update from her longtime stylist, Zerina Akers, who stripped things down and played up the retro-minded accessories. Changing the outfit’s focal point gave the pearl-encrusted belt and pumps an opportunity to shine alongside one of 2021’s most coveted carryalls, Alexander McQueen’s Story bag. Bright red and quilted with a shiny chain handle, it was the cherry atop a phenomenal look.
Some celebrities live on social media, but Beyonce only posts her fashion selfies when the outfit warrants attention. Her pitch-perfect take on Valentine’s Day style may have appeared a day after the holiday, but the bold beauty of the pieces from Rich and McQueen are worth celebrating year-round.
