Billy Porter Kicked Off the Cinderella Press Tour in Fabulous Style
What would Cinderella’s fairy godmother wear in 2021? Just ask Billy Porter. The latest reboot of the classic Disney film, starring Camila Cabello as the iconic Cinderella and Billy Porter as Fab G (the fairy godmother), officially premiered last night in Los Angeles. Porter, in particular, kicked off the movie’s press tour in fabulous style—all that was missing was a magical wand.
Channelling Fab G realness, Porter hit the red (or rather, purple) carpet in epic fashion. The actor wore a black and white ensemble by Mohamed Benchellal, a Moroccan-born, Amsterdam-based designer who uses upcycled fabrics (in the past, he has even turned damaged military uniforms into ball gowns). Porter wore the designer’s white, high-waisted skirt and a black top that had a giant bow attached to the back, complete with a sweeping train of course. Sky-high platforms also lent the look some serious height—more is more!
Now, Porter is no stranger to bringing the drama to the step and repeat—remember when he was carried into the Met Gala by six shirtless men?—so we would expect nothing less of him for the Cinderella premiere. But something tells us this is only the beginning, and that the press tour will deliver many memorable statement looks from Porter. Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!
