‘Bridgerton’ Season 2 Is Officially Happening

Netflix just confirmed it!

Bridgerton season two is officially happening, Netflix confirmed on Wednesday, January 21. “Prepare for another social season! @Bridgerton shall be back for Season 2,” the streaming platform posted to Twitter

Bridgerton has been a massive hit for Netflix. The series, based on Julia Quinn's popular novel series, centers on the affluent Bridgerton siblings in Regency-era London as they try to find love and marriage. Each novel focuses on a different Bridgerton sibling. Book one was all about Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), who pretends to date Simon, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), and winds up actually falling in love with him. If the show follows the books, season two will follow Anthony Bridgerton's (Jonathan Bailey) romance adventures.

In its announcement of Bridgerton season two, Netflix included a fun letter from Lady Whistledown.

“Dearest Readers, The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honor to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season,” it reads in part. “I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion.”

The cast has been hinting at wanting a season two for a while now. Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, recently told Radio Times, “I feel like we’ve established this big world, so I’d love to explore more of it.”

She added, “I’d love to go on that journey with her, to see how she’s changed. I’d really love to come back, because I feel like we’ve just scratched the surface. And because there’s such a huge cast in this show, there’s so much more of all the characters.”

“I think there are a lot of good stories to be told in this world,” Page told Oprah magazine. “There’s a plethora of characters, and each of those characters has cousins, uncles, and dogs, and I think people enjoy exploring all of those depths and nooks and crannies.”
