Buyer’s Rejoice: Vogue Editors Reveal Their Favorite Purchases in March

From affordable dresses to high-tech beauty tools, these are the things Vogue editors bought and loved.

As Vogue editors, we often wax poetic on the latest runway must-haves and home decor treasures, but not every item we gush about on this website ultimately ends up in our closets and homes. Our discoveries are nice to behold—they’re lovely to look at and inspire fun conversation—however, of all these cool things to buy, what did we actually end up buying? Each month we’ll highlight those special finds our editors welcomed into their lives—all the things that gave us buyer’s rejoice.

For March, the shift in temperature meant refreshing our wardrobes with statement-making dresses, playful sandals, and a collection of sun hats. Of course, we haven’t completely abandoned our outwear just yet. Instead of those bubble puffers and heavy-duty wool coats, one colleague invested in a cozy J.Crew cardigan, perfect for transitional-weather dressing. Another, is amplifying her workouts with a Lululemon set. And it’s not just the fashion that’s on our minds right now—we’re reviving wintry chapped lips with Chanel lip balm and mastering the at-home blowout with Dyson’s game-changing Airwrap.

Read on to discover which items Vogue editors purchased in March, plus we revisit one thing our readers couldn’t get enough of: a midi dress from Zara that features ruffled sleeves and vibrant floral embroideries.

I am obsessed with a few of my latest Zara finds. These fisherman sandals are ideal as we transition out of boot weather because they will look great with or without a sock. And this cardigan-jacket hybrid is not only adorable but reversible—a total win!

If you’re like me and have been battling chapped lips since working from home, I have found the beauty savior for you. I recently bought Chanel’s Les Beiges Healthy Glow lip balm and keep it by my desk daily. It not only keeps my lips hydrated, but I love that it has a tinted berry shade to still give me that fresh put-together look without actually wearing lipstick. It feels super smooth on, lightweight, and non-sticky. At $30, it certainly feels like a steal.

I got so excited about the recent warm days in New York, I bought a few new spring dresses to celebrate the occasion. My favorite is one that I discovered via my London-based friend (and former Vogue colleague!), Serena Nikkhah, on Instagram. She has great taste and a love for dresses like I do. This Weekend Max Mara denim shirt dress is structured enough to wear to the office but casual enough for weekends running around with my kids.

I want to spend every day this spring in a pretty dress, so I’m working on expanding my collection, starting with this beautiful linen one from Pixie Market. The mid-length hem is sophisticated, but the side cutouts give off that Hot Girl Summer energy that I can’t wait to return.

There’s nothing like a matching workout set to get your motivation in check! I opted for a Lululemon burgundy bra top and legging combo to kickstart my spring fitness routine into high gear. The leggings are a personal favorite as their built-in pockets are large enough to fit my iPhone, making outdoor running a breeze.

I’m no beauty expert, but the Dyson Airwrap is a complete game-changer. My hair has never looked better. The best part? It’s easy to use and I can achieve blowout-worthy tresses all by my novice self. Goodbye to timely routines, heavy hair tools, and tricky brush techniques.

I bought an old school sweater set from J.Crew that I think will be a new part of my everyday uniform. It’s the perfect transitional knit as we start to look towards spring, and I’ve found myself really leaning on the classics fashion-wise these days.

I love the ballet, and I love ballet flats, so these were a no-brainer. Sarah Flint looked at pointe slippers—somewhat square-toed, but also rounded—in the design of these flats. I picked black because I was looking for an everyday shoe and I’ve pretty much worn these all month long. Like everything Flint does, it’s thoughtfully designed. The patent leather detail ensures fewer scuff marks at the cap and the slightly cushy sole means that, unlike their balletic inspiration, these shoes are incredibly comfortable.

Since the first days of spring weather, I have been yearning to dress up each day, but not quite ready to style out every look with the same patience I had in the before times. Instead, getting dressed up again while continuing to work from home has meant investing in pre-styled outfits like dresses and matching sets. This Nanushka set felt like the next step in my continued departure from matching sweats and knit separates.

I’ve been eyeing these Dries Van Noten platform sandals for a few summers. Last year, I was about to take the plunge, but because of quarantine, I felt it wasn’t quite the time to invest in them. When they came back in stock this March, it was a sign! Hopefully, soon I’ll be able to take them out for a spin.

In the past month, I pulled the trigger on two standout items: a red and white crocheted bucket hat from Emily Levine and a pair of swirly, canyon-inspired mugs from Ivy Ceramics. The hat is my latest attempt to (comfortably) spice up my WFH looks (and also mask my just-rolled-out-of-bed hair when it gets particularly unsightly). The mugs are part of the slow build I’m working on for the kitchen of my boyfriend’s new apartment, where I have been squatting for the past two months. Both the headgear and the drinking vessels were hand-made, carefully vetted, and totally unique, which are the guidelines I’m trying to keep in mind when making most purchases these days. Fewer, better things, right?

Hand crocheted in Ecuador by local female artisans, this women-owned business just released the hat of my dreams! The Minga Straw Boater hat is made entirely by natural material and is currently available for pre-order. I cannot stop dreaming about all the places it will go with me during the warmer months ahead. Whether it be a day at the beach, or planting in the garden, I love how versatile it will be to dress up or down. Catch me wearing this just about everywhere and making a special place for it to hang in my home.
