Chrissy Teigen Just Called Out Celeb Men Who Send ‘Creepy, Desperate’ Videos on Dating Apps
Chrissy Teigen is back on Twitter and calling celebs out on their dating-app behavior.
In case you’ve been offline this week, the mini-scandal du jour is this: A young woman, Nivine Jay, allegedly matched with Ben Affleck on the dating app Raya, assumed the account was fake, and unmatched him. Jay claims Affleck then sent her a video of himself asking why she unmatched him. Jay put the whole thing on TikTok for a laugh and it went viral. There was a small backlash, and BuzzFeed reports Jay tried to diffuse it by explaining her intention was to make fun of herself for thinking Affleck was a catfish.
Seemingly inspired by this little episode, another young woman, 20-year-old Kate Haralson, posted a TikTok that included alleged recordings of a FaceTime between herself and Friends star Matthew Perry. (We cannot verify it was actually Perry.) The woman was 19 at the time. Perry is currently engaged to talent manager Molly Hurwitz, and the alleged FaceTime reportedly took place last year when the two had briefly separated. The video reportedly includes the man believed to be Perry asking Haralson if he’s older than her father.
Haralson also received backlash for releasing the video, but she explained her decision to Page Six. “A lot of people were saying I’m a bully and mean for posting this, and it made me feel kind of bad, but at the same time, I feel like a lot of guys in Hollywood are talking to all these young girls and it’s something that I think a lot of people should be aware of,” she said.
Now it looks as though Chrissy Teigen is weighing in on the drama. Without naming names—so it’s possible she wasn’t referring to Affleck or Perry—she tweeted, “I agree celebs shouldn’t be making these creepy desperate video replies on raya but it’s tacky to release private messages. Ya both wrong, congrats.”
