“He would have been here any day now.”
Chrissy Teigen Says She Regrets Not Looking at Her Late Son Jack's Face When He Was Born
Warning: This is very sad. Chrissy Teigen just revealed that when her and John Legend's son, Jack, was stillborn at the end of September 2020, she chose not to look at his face, and regrets that decision now.
“I am so full of regret that I didn’t look at his face when he was born. I was so scared of seeing him in my nightmares that I forgot about seeing him in my dreams. I hurt every day from that remorse," she wrote on Instagram, captioning pictures from the music video shoot she and Legend used to announce her pregnancy.
February 2021 is the month Jack was due, and it's “a rough reminder,” Teigen wrote: "He would have been here any day now - if he were like Luna and Miles, I’d probably be holding him as we speak.”
Reminding us that healing isn't linear, she continued, "To be honest, I thought the worst was over, but I guess life and emotions aren’t on any sort of schedule.”
Teigen and Legend have been open about the emotional and, in her case, physical toll of the experience, and the ways they are coping as a family.
Chrissy Teigen is currently at home recovering after endometriosis surgery. She posted updates to her Instagram Stories, enjoying a donut while waiting for her painkillers to wear off.
In true Chrissy fashion, she's maintaining a sense of humor, not about her pregnancy loss but about Instagram. She commented on her own post (from above), “It’s ok to think there is food on your screen for the first pic. I keep trying to get it off, too,” and then, “Don’t get mad at the bots! It is kind of funny to me to see them comment ‘a beautiful success!’ on this lol.”
Bots aside, the comments were flooded with messages of love and support. “Sending love to you 🙏🏻❤️” wrote Hollywood stylist Rachel Zoe. Model Emily Ratajkowski and This Is Us star Mandy Moore left red hearts.
Hearts from us, too, Chrissy.
