She leaned into a retro vibe, but made it modern.
Dakota Johnson Shows How to Wear Fall’s Wide-Leg Jeans
If you’re a jeans lover, you’ve likely gone through many trends: acid wash jeans, mom jeans, and of course the ever-polarizing skinny jeans. This fall, though, it’s all about baggier shapes. Skinny jeans have been deemed “cheugy” by Gen Z, and now Rihanna, Hailey Bieber, and Bella Hadid are rocking wider-leg jeans and flares. They showed how they can strike the perfect balance of comfort and polish in the summer, and now, Dakota Johnson has the perfect way to wear them this fall.
In New York City today, the actor wore a pair of light-wash RE/DONE jeans that have a flared leg and high waist. Retailing for $295, they’re dubbed the “70s Ultra High Rise” and take cues from the popular bellbottoms of the 1970s, albeit in a more modern way. She offset the voluminous jeans with a tailored checked blazer, and a suede Gucci Re(Belle) bag. Her low-top sneakers, by Adidas x Wales Bonner, offered a pop of color and also had a retro silhouette.
Consider Johnson’s outfit the perfect one to recreate this fall. Why? Not only will you be on-trend denim wise, but you’ll also channel ’70s flair, without looking like you’re wearing a Halloween costume, that is. It may be spooky season, but your outfit doesn't have to be.
