This is the second Y2K-era trend she’s brought back this month.
Dua Lipa Dares To Wear the Divisive Popcorn Top
Love them or hate them, popcorn tops are back. You know, those itty bitty, stretchy tops that seem fit for an American Girl doll, but have the ability to expand to fit a human body. The technique recently made a comeback on the spring 2022 runways at the likes of Marine Serre, Diesel, Chopova Lowena, and the London-based designer Chet Lo. Dua Lipa is already taking note of the (literally) expanding trend. This past week, she stepped out in London wearing a saucy purple and lavender popcorn top and skirt set by Chet Lo. She anchored the showy look with a large oversized black blazer and a pair of chunky sneakers.
Lipa is a dedicated fan of noughties fashion. Earlier this month, she went full maximalist ’00s in a full Blumarine look along with the throwback jewelry trend du jour: a rhinestone bedazzled bicep bracelet. She’s also been a supporter of trucker hats, as well as scarf tops, and argyle prints.
The singer (and her stylist Lorenzo Posoccco) have a fun outlook on clothing. It’s flirty, fun, and feels right for now. While Lipa wears plenty of Y2K pieces, she brings them into 2021 in an artful way, as seen with the aforementioned blazer. We’ll be watching to see what funky trend Lipa brings back next.
