Dua Lipa Made Her Button-Up Look Sexy in the Easiest Way Possible
Just a day after posing in a bedazzled corset, Dua Lipa proved that she absolutely has the range, by wearing a khaki-colored button-up that offered a glimpse of her abs. The easy styling trick involved buttoning up her shirt all the way to the collar and leaving the bottom undone, flipping the usual open-at-the-top script upside-down. The opening offered a glimpse at her bright orange skirt and matching Prada belt.
It helps that Lipa's shirt included gathered details on the side, but anyone looking to recreate the vibe can do it even without the ruching. Lipa's shirt also included black Prada-logo belts on both arms, and she finished the ensemble with a mustardy shoulder bag. The carousel also featured a cameo from Megan Thee Stallion (wearing Chanel, of course), who appears on Lipa's new track, "Sweetest Pie." Lipa just wrapped up shows in Dallas, Texas, and Megan's hometown of Houston. Fans are guessing that the two are at a Meow Wolf exhibition in the post because of the psychedelic surroundings, though Lipa didn't tag her location.
Lipa's Future Nostalgia Tour (which is also set to head overseas after it wraps up dates in the U.S) isn't the only thing keeping her busy. She's set to make her feature film debut later this year in Argylle, where she'll star alongside Henry Cavill and Ariana DeBose.
In case you didn’t get the memo, Dua Lipa is currently in the full flush of her goth phase. It began with Mugler’s Casey Cadwallader, who she sought out for a panelled catsuit to kickstart her Future Nostalgia tour, and it continued with Mugler, the name behind her latest series of looks for new single, Sweetest Pie. Lipa’s musical collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion sees the two singers decked out in surreal, avant-garde garb: a sculptural, horned buster from Schiaparelli spring/summer ’22, a spiked black two-piece from Maximilian, and of course, the magnum opus—a delectable mini dress crafted by Cadwallader, worn with towering Harry Halim boots.
It follows, then, that goth has also been on her street style menu, though Lipa makes sure to give it a semi-casual spin. Like Bella Hadid, she’s a fan of alien eyewear, donning an upturned pair from Balenciaga with a Blumarine cut-out jumpsuit this week. She plucked a head-to-toe denim outfit straight off Glenn Martens’s autumn/winter ’22/’23 runway for Diesel. And when she’s not in platforms that would make a Bratz doll envious, Lipa relies on lug boots for the same effect—just yesterday, she balanced out the frou-frou of her Khaite dress with knee-high Bottega Veneta stompers.
One of the latest designers she’s worn to carry out her goth casual vision? None other than Australian talent Dion Lee, who dressed her earlier this month for an outing in New York City. The ensemble was a collection of Lipa’s favourite silhouettes: a long-sleeved corset top with an Elizabethan neckline, baggy black pants with a fold-over waistband, so low-slung that it created a cut-out effect at the hips, and combat booties from Miu Miu, dripping with silver chains. Up top, Lipa doubled down on laidback headgear, wrapping a tie-dye bandana from Gerrit Jacob around a black baseball cap. And because no goth look is complete without extra hardware, she gripped Balenciaga’s Le Cagole in her hand, hammered leather and all.
We’ll sure miss Lipa’s ultra-feminine Y2K phase, but she’s pulling off all-black with similar aplomb. If it continues for much longer, we see a lot of Rick Owens in her future.
