Ella Emhoff Just Made Her New York Fashion Week Debut
Ella Emhoff signed with IMG Models in January, and she's wasted no time getting to work. The second daughter made her New York Fashion Week debut, walking in Proenza Schouler's show, which didn't feature a live audience for obvious pandemic reasons.
But that didn't make the affair any less chic. Proenza Schouler posted a video of the show to its Instagram page, which you can check out, below. Skip to the six-minute mark to watch Emhoff in action.
Ella Emhoff, stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, first caught the style world's attention at the inauguration when she wore this stunning Miu Miu coat.
Ivan Bart, the president of IMG Models, told The New York Times about signing Emhoff, “It’s not really about shape, size, or gender anymore. Ella communicates this moment in time. There’s a cheekiness and a joy she exudes.”
Emhoff herself told the publication, “I was pretty surprised when everything with IMG was happening because when I was younger, I never saw that as being part of my timeline. As someone who, like a lot of young girls out there, had self-confidence issues, it is intimidating and scary to go into this world that is hyper-focused on you and the body.”
She wasn't the only breakout star from the inauguration. Poet Amanda Gorman also scored a deal with IMG Models shortly after her reading at President Joe Biden's swearing-in ceremony. She will be focusing on brand endorsements and editorial opportunities, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“You don’t have to be a poet, you don’t have to be a politician or be in the White House to make an impact with your words. We all have this capacity to find solutions for the future,” she told Glamour in 2018. (Gorman was one of our College Women of the Year.)
