Emily Ratajkowski Amps Up the Classic LBD
Is there a bigger crowd-pleaser than the classic LBD? It can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, and it’ll never go out of style. That being said, it doesn’t mean you can’t update the dress every now and then to make it feel current and on-trend. That’s exactly what Emily Ratajkowski did this weekend, when the model made an appearance at the Tribeca Festival in New York on Saturday. In true Ratajkowski form, her take on the LBD is strappier, sexier, and by an emerging label.
Ratajkowski’s design is from Nensi Dojaka, a London-based Albanian designer who specializes in saucy, ’90s-inspired looks and completely modernizes them. (Bella Hadid has worn her pieces, too). That slinky, strappy aesthetic couldn’t be more on-trend, with stars like Kylie Jenner and Cardi B also favoring the look recently. Ratajkowski and stylist Emma Jade Morrison paired it with a subtle pendant necklace from MG Stones (which is aptly named the Emily), a black leather Tamara Mellon clutch, and strappy heels. The minimal accessories allowed the dress to truly shine.
While Ratajkowski’s dress is certainly more on-trend than your standard LBD, it still has staying power. That’s the beauty of a LBD! So do like a top model and don’t be afraid to elevate your everyday black dress a tad this summer—because when done right, it clearly can make a bigger statement than any colorful piece can.
