Emma Chamberlain Didn’t Go to Prom, So She Went to the Met Gala
Emma Chamberlain was going to do an updo for her first Met Gala but thought that it might look too, “going to my first prom.” To be fair, the 20-year-old YouTube sensation has never actually been to the dance, since her vlogs began to take off when she was only 16. Instead, she has the Met. “Actually this kind of feels like going to prom, because of the nerves,” she says in her getting ready video. “You’re not that scared but you’re excited. This is my prom experience.”
And like anyone attending a big event, she had to dress up accordingly. She got fitted for her nails, the extensions specifically shaped to her nail bed. (That process alone took 1.5 hours.) For the red carpet, she wore a glittering dress by Louis Vuitton. The top was shaped like two diamonds melded together, attached to a miniskirt with a square train. “This has been my best friend for the past 48 hours,” says Chamberlain about her megawatt dress. “This is me and her wedding day.” And despite attending one of the most-watched events of the year, Chamberlain kept her nerves in check. “I’m just not frightened,” she says. “I feel calm, cool, and collected about it.” Watch her full getting ready process below.
