When it comes to the red carpet, you can count on Lady Gaga to make a statement. This is someone who wears feathered Valentino hats out on the streets! Case in point: Last night at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ opening gala in Los Angeles, California, the megawatt star brought forward not one, but two haute couture looks that commanded the room. Both of them remained true to the Old Hollywood aesthetic she’s been experimenting with.

For the carpet, Gaga chose a custom look from Schiaparelli that had a glamorous, retro feel. Designed by Daniel Roseberry, the strapless black column dress was punctuated by a puffy, baby blue stole dramatically wrapped around her arms. (She does have a penchant for head-turning accessories, after all.) Her Chopard rings and dangly earrings further elevated the ensemble.

When Gaga performed for the crowd, she selected another Haute Couture ensemble, this time from Elie Saab. The gown, from the label’s fall Couture collection, was embroidered with crystals, sequins, and pearls. Shining under the spotlight, Gaga lit up the venue in a way only she can. Though the priceless couture does help.
