The pop star wore Viktor & Rolf for her first appearance on the latest series of ‘American Idol.’
For Valentine’s Day, Katy Perry Is an Haute Couture Queen of Hearts
Katy Perry had a big year in 2020. Just two days before the release of her sixth album Smile last August, Perry gave birth to her first daughter with Orlando Bloom. Since then, while taking the time to enjoy her newfound motherhood, she’s been keeping her fans entertained by cropping up on social media every so often wearing an array of delightfully outlandish outfits. From cow-print Christian Siriano couture to Bettie Page-inspired glam, Perry has made sure to continually channel the novelty factor that made her a fashion star in the first place, and then some.
But in the wake of her show-stopping performance at the Biden-Harris inauguration last month and her upcoming fourth season as a judge on American Idol, Perry has clearly been preparing to up the style ante once again. For Valentine’s Day, she opted for a look that didn’t disappoint. Wearing a couture number by Viktor & Rolf—a favorite of Perry’s for their cheeky, campy take on high fashion—the singer teased the premiere of the nineteenth season of American Idol in a floor-length ball gown featuring a trim of sculptural hearts sweeping from shoulder to hem.
“Will you be joining a Queen of Hearts for the #AmericanIdol premiere tonight? Grab your beloved valentine and tune in to @abcnetwork at 8/7c,” she wrote on Instagram. She might have found domestic bliss, but Perry is clearly happy to spread that love far and wide.
