Vogue editors are already looking forward to fall dressing.
From Vogue Sweatshirts to Zara Sweaters, 26 Items Purchased (and Loved!) by Vogue Editors in August
As Vogue editors, we often wax poetic on the latest runway must-haves and home-decor treasures, but not every item we gush about on this website ultimately ends up in our closets and homes. Our discoveries are nice to behold—they’re lovely to look at and inspire fun conversation—however, of all these cool things to buy, what did we actually end up buying? Each month we’ll highlight those special finds our editors welcomed into their lives—all the things that gave us buyer’s rejoice.
August felt like the perfect moment to refresh our closets and slowly welcome transitional essentials—like sleeveless turtlenecks, boxy sweaters, and long-sleeve dresses. Actually, quite a few Vogue editors embraced all that’s to come this fall with some delightfully affordable staples from a few beloved retailers.
For others, this month was all about procuring items to remind us of all our special travels long after summer has come to a close. Some of my colleagues stocked up on coconut-scented moisturizer reminiscent of island getaways, while others invested in crisp cotton shirts worn during jaunts in Greece. While the shopping escapades teeter tottered between the changing seasons, one thing remained certain: Each editor found some undeniably cool things to buy right now.

In anticipation of fall and the transitional season, I scooped up this oversized Breton striped pullover that I plan to style with my favorite trousers and ankle boots.
Also, I have a weakness for merch-related items—sweaters, totes, water bottles, you name it. When Vogue dropped its latest line of varsity-style sweaters in our shop, I couldn’t resist adding one to my cart immediately.

This is the perfect all-purpose dress. I can pair it with boots and wear it to the office but just as easily throw it on with sneakers for a casual weekend night dinner. The color and print get me immediately in the fall mood.

This geek-chic sweater vest caught my eye as I walked past the Mango store at the Barcelona airport during my most recent layover. Despite the fact that, at that moment, I wished I was still lounging on a beach in the South of France on holiday, I couldn’t help but think of how fun these mustard and lilac hues would be to wear during the upcoming season—all summers must come to an end after all! It might have been an impulse purchase at the time, but I’ve already plotted wearing it this fall with relaxed, pleated black trousers, a smart belt, and my lug sole Gucci loafers!

I recently stayed at a friend’s house and was turned on to Mountain Ocean’s Skin Trip Coconut Moisturizer. I lather it on after using my (also new!) shower obsession, the C & The Moon Malibu body scrub. The combination not only smells heavenly but also makes me feel as if summer can last forever.

My sister’s wedding is coming up in a few weeks, and I bought this Attico dress for the occasion. I love the silver hardware and high neck. While it’s definitely an investment piece, I know it’s something I’ll wear time and time again.

Inspired by the Shawn Mendes street style snap of him in a beige sweater vest and jeans, I bought a neutral espresso-colored sweater vest from The Frankie Shop. It’s the perfect transitional piece from summer to fall and even winter since it can easily be layered.

I’m loving my droll Pier Sicilia swim shorts, made in Sicily by my friend Pierfrancesco Virlinz. They will always remind me of summer on the most cathartic island in the Aegean.
