Gigi Hadid Just Walked Her First Runway Since Becoming a Mom
Catwalks beware, Gigi Hadid is back on the runway. Five months after giving birth to daughter Khai, the supermodel walked in the Versace autumn/winter 2021 show on March 5, part of Milan Fashion Week.
Hadid found out she was pregnant just before the Tom Ford show in winter 2020. That was also right before most traditional fashion shows went on hiatus because of the pandemic, so Hadid and her boyfriend Zayn Malik, naturally, took a break from the grind to prepare for their baby. Since becoming a mom, Hadid has posed for some photographers and was even on the cover of Vogue in February. Now, it looks like she's tackling the runway next.
Hadid was joined in the show by her sister, Bella Hadid, and other top models, including Irina Shayk. Instead of the traditional show with an audience, this display took place on a three-dimensional structure with multiple levels and rooms, almost like a dollhouse. Or, as the Versace instagram called it, “amaze.” Get it? A maze? Oh, fashion can be fun.
Gold, black, and red seem to be the primary colors of the new line, with the classic Versace motif splashed over everything. Watch the full show here:
For the show, Hadid sports long, bright orange tresses, and it's not a wig. She revealed via Instagram Stories that her hair was dyed (temporarily or permanently, we don't know), and said that the color was “dedicated to everyone responsible for The Queen's Gambit.” Bath Harmon's hair was actually closer to titian than tangerine, but that's a minor quibble.
She also revealed the dye session was on February 26. So that's why she's been covering her hair with hats lately! A few days before the show, Page Six spotted Hadid in a chunky knit beanie, plus a necklace that said Khai. Of course she makes motherhood fashionable, she's Gigi Hadid!
