The model is the latest in a line of celebs to go to the dark(er) side.
Hailey Bieber's New 'Bronde' Hair Is the Best Way to Avoid Root Regrowth
It's not quite blonde, and it's not exactly brunette; it's somewhere (really pretty) in between. Move over high-maintenance hair colors, the 'it-girl' shade is all about bronde right now. Kim Kardashian's doing it, Lily James is doing it, and now, Hailey Bieber is doing it, too.
Bieber's hair stylist, Amanda Lee, took to Instagram over the weekend to share the new, richer color that the model is currently rocking.
Dialing it down from the platinum strands Hailey Bieber had this time last year, the blend of honey, almond and a cool-toned brown at the root (that's much closer to the model's natural shade), marks a movement towards a relaxed way of wearing hair. One that leaves our strands to do their thing without worrying about regrowth.
It's a shade Kardashian's also been keen on recently. She took to Instagram Stories a few weeks ago to unveil her lighter hair, which has a soft, sandy tone that lifts and complements her complexion. In one of the clips, she can be heard saying: "Khloé and Kylie thought they were gonna beat me to this hair color, but I got ‘em."
The switch-up came after her sister, Khloé Kardashian, shared a throwback photo of herself on Instagram with the caption: "Loving this Bronde pony! Do I go back to Bronde??? Let me know 💋 Bronde means blonde and brown mix for those who don’t know 😘."
It's a timely hair color trend as we head toward spring, since the golden tones are warm, sultry and work on everyone. But it's also a clever switch for blondes whose roots are starting to show through. With limited access to your colorist, you may want to skip the bleach, and opt for an easier at-home DIY.
"The key to achieving this color is to have lots of your natural base color showing through," says Siobhan Jones, Color Ambassador at Headmasters. So if you can get your stylist on the phone or FaceTime, ask them for a virtual consultation. "They can recommend the tones that suit your eye and skin tone while looking at the natural depth of your brunette or dark blonde. It's a low maintenance color so it's perfect for anyone who is a little color shy or not able to get to the salon very often," adds Jones.
While you won't be able to blend highlights like the pros ("by incorporating subtle shimmers of a lighter shade they can enhance your features as well as the movement and texture, making sure the most complimentary shade is placed around your face," says Siobhan), a switch to bronde could see you through to your next appointment. L'Oreal's Preference line has a wide range of shades to cater to those going darker and those going lighter.
A low-maintenance on-trend color? We're in.
