It’s only been a few months since knitted bralettes – a key trend to emerge from the spring/summer 2021 shows – divided fashion followers. Just when everyone thought they could safely obscure their midriff again, designers including Alberta Ferretti, Donatella Versace and Matthew Williams of Givenchy decided to bring back the ab-flash with a plethora of new styles.

Simon Porte Jacquemus is a key player in the sexy knit movement. His Le Bandeau Valensole knitted ecru tops are a modern It-girl staple, as modelled by Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber. And now there’s a new, equally tactile Jacquemus piece taking Instagram by storm: his Le Body Short ribbed knit playsuit.

Maybe it’s the impossibly French Jacquemus aesthetic (think: lo-fi shoots, dreamy interiors, exclusive artist collabs and plenty of raffia), that lured Hailey into buying Le Body. Or perhaps the lightweight ribbed fabrication or ultra-flattering silhouette caught her eye. Either way, her creamy romper will doubtless inspire others to follow suit this spring.

The model posted a snap that shows her soaking up the Cali rays wearing said playsuit; a Jacquemus Le Bob Artichaut cotton bucket hat shading her face and with a Museum of Peace & Quiet mug in hand. Bieber shared outtakes from her chilled Sunday with her 33.8 million followers – she also posted a clip of her “Peaches” make-up look, inspired by her husband Justin’s new song.
