How to Live Stream the 2021 Oscars
The Oscars 2021 ceremony is upon us, and there's a lot to be excited about. For one, this event will be live and in-person across locations—in keeping with coronavirus guidelines, of course. It's a step toward a return to normalcy, which we desperately need after a year-plus of virtual events and sad Zoom parties. Give me glitz. Give me glam. Give me awkward, self-indulgent speeches from the nominees and presenters!
So what can we expect from movies' biggest night? It's a mystery, but you won't want to miss it. And if you're wondering how to watch the Oscars 2021, look no further than this handy-dandy guide. Below, check out all the ways you can enjoy the Oscars 2021 from the comfort of your home.
Traditional cable
If you pay for cable, switch on ABC at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 25. That's all you have to do.
Streaming
Yes, there will be an Oscars live stream. (It's 2021, after all.) You can watch on the ABC app, as well as streaming services like Hulu With Live TV and YouTube TV. The Oscars 2021 live stream will start at 8 p.m. ET, just like the broadcast, and a small, COVID-friendly red carpet pre-show will start at 6:30 p.m. ET on ABC. It can be streamed on all the places you'll watch the actual Oscars. ABC News Live via The Roku Channel is also offering Oscars content starting around 4:30 p.m. ET.
Can you watch the Oscars 2021 online for free?
Sadly, no. You need to have either a cable subscription or access to a streaming platform to watch.
