So now that I've been spending a lot more time at home (read: all my time), I've inevitably been getting around to the task. To get some intel on which spring fashion trends to donate and which to replace them with, I reached out to five celebrity stylists whose literal job is to make sure their A-list clients look as chic and up-to-date as possible.
I knew their recommendations would be good, but I didn't know they'd be this good. I couldn't agree with their selections more, which is why I'm jumping at the chance to share the intel here just in case you're also itching to do some spring cleaning. Let me first say that their suggestions are merely that—suggestions—and these are by no means hard-and-fast rules for what to ditch and buy. Instead, take into consideration your own personal style when deciding whether these tips are for you.

"As we move into spring, I am hoping we can retire skinny pants. For where we are right now, the limiting structure of tight pants feels at odds and not conducive."
Adopt: Wide Pants
"Wide-leg trousers are my preference for spring, and what I hope to see more of. They feel relaxed and add such a striking silhouette with minimal effort needed. There's such a wide variety in styles (and prices!), such as from Commando, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Vince, Levi's, and Alexander McQueen."

"Going into spring, I’m going to retire my uniform of all over neutrals. Moving into a new and exciting year of hope, it's time to pause on the drab color palettes in exchange for some color."
Adopt: Bubblegum Pink
"I'm definitely ready to add pops of color back into my closet. Bubblegum pink was a big color in the latest runways and it exactly how I’m hoping to look at our coming months, bright and cheerful. We are coming out of the darkness into fun. Also, loved all the pastel color mixtures another option if bubblegum is a bit too much for you."

"It’s time to retire the go-to “lockdown” slip-on. Since their acceptance into the runway collections back in 2017 it’s been long enough. I get it... they are “comfortable” but I would love to see another version of this split on taking its time in the sun."
Adopt: Chic Loafers
"For this upcoming Spring 2021, I would certainly get your hands on loafers. They come in a variety of fabrics and colors. My fave is a worn vintage brown leather circa the 1970s. Classic, cool, and easy to wear with your go-to casual basics."

"I'm hanging up the ultra-high-waisted pant! I think Harry Styles took us down a great path but all good things must come to an end, and so I bid them adieu. Quite frankly, they just aren't that flattering."
Adopt: Lived-In Denim
"I'm telling everyone who will listen to invest in good jeans. I'm really into wearing my jeans one waist size up so they hang just right. Belt them, fold them, cuff them... "

"In my humble opinion, the trend I most abhor and should be retired for the upcoming spring season would without a doubt be graphic tees. Although festival season is approaching, those kitschy graphic tee shirts we see season after season create limitations, as opposed to the possibilities other options can offer."
Adopt: Reinvented T-Shirts
"I believe it is time to adopt and embrace reinventing the T-shirt by way of interesting and luxurious fabrics. Investing in tees with color-blocking, bejeweled appliques, and avant-garde silhouettes will elevate a staple in a way that will showcase one's appreciation for high design, which can still be acquired at a relatively low cost."
