Maybe I could wear a version of this every day?
I Tried Out Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Look for Halloween
When Kim Kardashian stepped out in her all-black, face-covering Balenciaga bodysuit at the Met gala last month, it was the look heard ’round the world. And after being tweeted, memed, and debated across the Internet with record speed, I was intrigued. On a night celebrating American fashion, here was a woman so famous that she didn’t even need to show her face to be on theme. As far as costumes go, Halloween-ready or not, it couldn’t get eerier than that.
I was even more intrigued when I noticed that, since her debut, a cottage industry of sexy, affordable versions of her costumes had sprung up. So when I first entertained the possibility of testing out one of these iterations, my first stop was Yandy, a hub for saucy lingerie but also delightfully risqué party costumes. (Think: skin-baring firemen, SWAT teams, steampunks, and zombies.) Unsurprisingly, Yandy already had a Kardashian costume that was close enough to Kardashian’s Met gala look, but with a skin-baring twist. In lieu of complete coverage, the décolletage was fully on show; meanwhile, the T-shirt came in the form of a sheer cape.
