Jenna Dewan Hits Back at Outlets Who Made It Appear She Dissed Channing Tatum in an Interview

"My words have been distorted for clicks."

UPDATE: August 4, 2021—Jenna Dewan took to social media to clarify statements she made about Channing Tatum during her interview on the Dear Gabby podcast that were taken out of context.

“It’s unfortunate that countless media outlets have taken an important conversation on a woman’s experience with postpartum issues and pulled quotes to make it appear that I was slamming my daughter’s father, something I would never do,” she said. “As two working parents, we both faced challenges at the time, but I speak only for myself and not about him. Anyone who actually listens to the interview, something I encourage everyone to do, will clearly see that my words have been distorted for clicks and to push false, salacious gossip with no regard for the actual people involved or the message intended.”

ORIGINAL STORY:

Actor-dancer-host Jenna Dewan recently opened up on the Dear Gabby podcast about the struggles she faced shortly after her daughter Everly’s birth—specifically “postpartum anxiety” and how work obligations made things difficult. (She and Evie's father, Channing Tatum, both had jam-packed schedules.)

“I had to travel with her, and at the time, Chan wasn’t available to be with us for the most part,” Dewan said on the podcast, according to People. “So, it was me, my doula, and Evie all by ourselves traveling at six weeks.”

Dewan says “long hours” on set made the balance between work and motherhood “really hard.” She also had “a lot of postpartum anxiety” during this time.

“It was, like, I just never stopped,” she said on Dear Gabby. “You know, you’re up a couple times in the night and then you’re working all day. I was breastfeeding, I was pumping, I was without a partner. I mean, it was just craziness.”

Dewan is currently with Steve Kazee, and they welcomed their first child, Callum Michael Rebel, in 2020. On raising a child during the pandemic, Dewan said, “Even though the world was crazy, I was home and in this love nest, and it was different.”

Dewan and Kazee got engaged in February 2020. “A lifetime to love and grow with you…you have my heart,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

And she said in a separate IG post, “You flew into my life like a rocket, lit it up beyond what I could’ve expected or imagined, and every day I am in awe over the love, care and nurture you show me, Evie and everyone around you. I’ve told you a thousand times and I’ll tell you again…Thank you for finding me I am the luckiest girl alive."
