Let's get loud!
Jennifer Lopez Delivered an Instantly Iconic Inauguration Performance
Jennifer Lopez performed “This Land Is Your Land” at President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris's inauguration, and she mixed in elements of her song “Let's Get Loud.” She took the stage in a gorgeous Chanel pantsuit after Lady Gaga sang a powerful rendition of the national anthem, which also set the internet ablaze.
“Never thought Jennifer Lopez would make me cry but here we are,” author Jill Filipovic wrote. Actor Francia Raisa pointed out that Lopez made a nod to her Latina heritage: “@JLo really just spoke Spanish at the inauguration.”
The Grio's White House correspondent April D. Ryan tweeted, “What a beautiful contrast! After 4 years of hearing disparaging words towards the LatinX community & about immigrants, @JLo delivers ‘This Land is Your Land’ at #Inauguration2021 and even spoke in Spanish. It’s a new day in our nation! #JenniferLopez #InaugurationDay.”

Lopez's fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, teased her performance ahead of the inauguration. “It's been such a crazy year for her, so amazing, so many blessings. But to think in a span of 12 months, she's done the Super Bowl, New Year's [Eve] and now the inaugural, it's unbelievable,” he said on The Tonight Show. “And what's interesting is she's most nervous about Washington, D.C., because of the responsibility.”
While in Washington, D.C., Lopez made sure to post photos with her team, using the hashtag “#InaugurationSquad 2021.”
Lopez also took time to thank the National Guard and shared a selfie with them ahead of her performance. “What an honor to spend a few moments with these brave men and women. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. I honor you today and everyday. 🇺🇸 Tomorrow I sing for you and all Americans. ❤️🤍💙 #inauguration2021,” she wrote.
As Rodriguez noted, it's been a busy 12 months for Jennifer Lopez, with performances at the inauguration, the 2020 Super Bowl, and New Year's Eve. And with awards season coming up, we're sure there will be more live moments to come.
