A new spin on one of the buzziest hair trends of the year.
Jennifer Lopez Just Got Blunt Curtain Bangs for Summer
When Jennifer Lopez got curtain bangs last October, she became one of many celebs to embrace the style. Now, she's offering her own spin on the popular look: blunt curtain bangs.
Lopez's hairstylist, Chris Appleton, shared several photos of her rocking the bangs to his Instagram on May 13. “What do you think [of] today’s look Blunt Curtain bangs on JLO ? ✨” he wrote. See for yourself, below.
As we reported last February, curtain bangs are an almost-universally flattering look and require much less upkeep than traditional “straight across”-style bangs."Curtain bangs are the gateway to bangs, because they're super versatile," Emily Heser, stylist at Cutler Salon in New York City, told Glamour. "They're long enough to grow out or pin back if you want, but they can also be cut into a shorter look."
On how easy curtain bangs are to manage, celebrity hairstylist Alex Brown told us, "They don’t take on the commitment of adding a full-throttle bang to your hair. They’re less work and are so easy to grow out."
And get this: Appleton actually revealed his tips for perfect curtain bangs during a masterclass for ColorWow a few months back. “The secret to a good curtain bang is closing the forehead shape,” he said. “I like to use ColorWow's Raise the Root volumizing spray on dry hair, then grab a hair dryer and a big round brush to pull the hair forward and down, while hitting it with heat for a couple of seconds.”
The good news is you don't need a celebrity stylist or even a salon to get the look yourself–you can cut them at home by following this easy six-step process. Not ready to bust out the scissors? No problem. Here are tips on how to “fake” curtain bangs without cutting using heat and styling tools. Literally, what are you waiting for?
