Jill Biden Sent the Perfect Gift to Michelle Obama and Made Their Followers Emotional
So it looks like my FLOTUS fanfic about Jill Biden and Michelle Obama being best friends is actually canon!
On February 3, Obama posted about a surprise gift she received from the new first lady of the United States: vegetables from the White House Kitchen Garden. “So thankful for this beautiful care package from our amazing @FLOTUS,” she wrote in the Instagram caption. “These fresh veggies from the White House Kitchen Garden were such a wonderful—and delicious—surprise. Love you, Jill!”
Biden replied to Obama on the ’Gram from the @FLOTUS account, writing, “Food is love. 💚” Obviously, followers of both first ladies were heartened by the exchange. “From one legendary FLOTUS to another,” one user replied.
“Omg this is so normal! No drama,” another commented. “Just kindness. I'm so relieved and thankful for both Michelle and Jill!”
The White House Kitchen Garden was planted by Michelle Obama in 2009 to provide food for the First Family during their stay and feed the homeless, and was used to host educational events for school children. It's no wonder Obama is happy to see the garden she once referred to as her “baby” is thriving.

“I take great pride in knowing that this little garden will live on as a symbol of the hopes and dreams we all hold of growing a healthier nation for our children,” Obama said in a 2016 speech, per Politico. “I am hopeful that future first families will cherish this garden like we have.”
According to People, Michelle Obama has a standing invite from Jill Biden to “come over and help herself any time.” If this happens, I will need photos!
“We've already eaten vegetables out of the garden!” Biden told the publication. “The other day, I went down to the kitchen and they had a big bowl full of cauliflower and radishes. The garden is going strong!”
