Once again, the Duchess dresses for the occasion.
Kate Middleton Steps Out in Affordable, Sustainable Sneakers
Earlier today, Kate Middleton stopped by London’s Natural History Museum to learn about its new Urban Nature Project, which is helping local citizens reconnect with nature and teaching them ways to be more sustainable in their day to day lives. The Duchess of Cambridge, naturally, dressed for the occasion by wearing sneakers made from organic, eco-minded materials (and they’re affordable, too).
For the event, Middleton stepped out wearing Veja’s Esplar leather and suede low-top sneakers, which retail for $130 and are ethically made in Brazil. The upper is made of leather and organic cotton, while the thick rubber soles are harvested sustainably from the Amazonian rainforest and are also made with sugar cane and recycled EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate). The inside lining is also made of organic cotton and recycled plastic bottles.
For a more refined, casual look, Middleton paired the sneakers with a pink Chloé blazer, a white Ralph Lauren top, classic blue jeans, and gold jewelry, which instantly dressed up the casual kicks. But it was the thematic choice of shoes that really stole the show.
