Kate Middleton just debuted her new auburn hair, and she looks amazing.
The Duchess of Cambridge has been hitting a few red carpets (and one green one) lately, which makes it easier to notice her recent shift from deep brown hair to a much warmer brunette with red tones in recent weeks.
On September 28, Middleton attended the London premiere of the latest James Bond movie, No Time to Die, at the Royal Albert Hall. Against her stunning gold gown, it’s easy to see the rich chocolate and caramel tones of her hair in a braided updo.
Fast-forward about a week to October 5, when she visited the University of London for its Children of the 2020s project. She was looking much more casual in an affordable Zara dress, and her long hair was let down and appeared noticeably lighter.
Still, it wasn’t until Kate Middleton hit the green carpet with her husband, Prince William, on October 17 for the 2021 Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony that she debuted slightly more auburn locks with red undertones—a perfect look for the fall season.
As with the Zara dress, this was not the first time the Duchess of Cambridge has worn this lilac gown by Alexander McQueen.
The Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony, which was developed by the Duke of Cambridge, is an eco-friendly event that spotlights environment leaders working to save and protect the planet. Every year for the next decade, five scientists, activists, and organizations around the world will be awarded prizes of $1.3 million to further their environmental efforts.
Given the scope of the event, attendees were asked not to purchase anything new for the evening. (Emma Watson, for one, made her red carpet return in a backless Harris Reed number.) Middleton, for her part, brought back a fan-favorite gown from 10 years ago that she originally wore to a black-tie BAFTA event in Los Angeles back in 2011.
Clearly, she still knows how to rock it.
