Katie Holmes’s Wintery Look Mixes High and Low
There’s a million reasons why Katie Holmes’s style wins. She has a killer collection of shoes, coats, and jeans, for starters. But one of the best things about the actor’s wardrobe is that so many of the pieces she wears are much more relatable than we’d expect from an A-Lister. They’re refreshingly simple, in fact. In the world of celebrities, it’s often about scoring the most trendy or avant-garde piece. And to be sure, Katie flexes bold looks, too. But compared to some of her peacocking counterparts, she leans way more towards casual wear. And in turn, she’s a perennial source of everyday inspiration.
Yesterday in New York City (with beau Emilio Vitolo Jr. in tow), Holmes stepped out in a chic winter look that was, again, extremely wearable. She mixed high and low pieces for an outfit that virtually anyone could pull off. She first threw on a checked trench coat by one of her favorite labels, Khaite. Originally retailing for over $2,000, it’s hardly an accessible piece to all, but the way she styled it is easily recreatable. She paired it with a white tee and Vagabond Shoemaker’s penny loafers, which retail for an affordable $160. She’s also worn the luxe coat a few times before, proving that an expensive splurge can indeed be a worthwhile investment. Her wintery look showed that when a good coat does all the work for you, the rest of your outfit can be simple. Casual cool at its finest.
