Kendall Jenner’s Maxi Bag Obsession Is Far From Over
Ever since micro bags swept the runways several seasons ago (Jacquemus, we’re looking at you), extreme bag trends have become the new norm. Supersized shapes have been particularly popular this year, and with our ever-growing list of essentials—mask, sanitizer, etc.—it kind of makes sense.
We particularly want to know what Kendall Jenner stashes in her maxi Bottega Veneta Jodie totes (she has a black one and a vanilla shade.) A spare pair of shoes? An outfit change? Another bag? KJ’s gargantuan accessory is roomy enough to fit just about anything; a true modern-day Mary Poppins bag, if you like.
Bottega’s Jodie tote isn’t creative director Daniel Lee’s first big bag. The Bradford, England-raised designer sent a maxi accessory memo at his very first Resort 2020 showcase for the house, in which he supersized the house’s intrecciato leather onto XL totes and gigantic puffy Pouches. More of the same has been seen at his subsequent seasonal shows—his most recent autumn/winter 2021 presentation featured a giant bubbly tote.
Kendall’s favorite Jodie recently met its mega match in Peter Do’s Dumpling bag, which she recently purchased. As the name suggests, the bag boasts a curved silhouette, and comes in a tasty chocolate-brown colorway embossed with mock-croc patterns.
Just days after Peter Do’s first show, Kendall was spied with her new companion rested on her shoulder, worn with a Namacheko sweater vest, smart trousers, and loafers. The following month she wheeled it out again, this time worn with Khaite straight-leg jeans, a polka-dot Acne Studios jumper and polished boots from The Row.
