She’s reviving a look popularized by Destiny’s Child.
Kim Kardashian Is Bringing 2000s Camo Back
The early-aughts were a wild time for fashion. Remember when we wore dresses over jeans? Or when Juicy Couture sweats were seen as the height of luxury? When I think of Y2K style, I’m also reminded of an overflow of camouflage prints on everything from giant purses to cargo pants. Stars like Jennifer Lopez and Fergie wore it everywhere too, though Destiny’s Child did the all-over camo look best during the time period (especially in their “Survivor” music video, though they also pulled off the print as evening gowns at the 2001 Grammys).
Flash-forward to today, however, and Kim Kardashian—the queen of Instagram fit pics—also paid homage to the throwback trend, albeit in her own vampy way. The reality star and entrepreneur posed at home in a saucy head-to-toe camouflage look: It included a sheer mini dress that’s vintage John Galliano-era Dior, as well as Vetements thigh-high boots from this decade. She may appear like she’s gunning to be Destiny’s Child’s fourth member here, but her take on look does feel decidedly more current. A 2000s take on the look would also include the matching hat, bag, and belt. But don’t get it twisted, there’s nothing about this look that is minimal. Kelly, Beyoncé, and Michelle would still be very proud.
